or (II)-Jean Francois Cadotte and (II)-Marie Joseph (Josette) Proteau born March 19, 1701 La Perade, Quebec, died December 16, 1731. (PQ442-519). It is possible there are two Jean Cadotte's?? This could be the source of the Michel Cadotte confusion as both are claimed as parents of Michel?
Jean Baptiste Cadotte, b-1723 Batiscan, was not the son of Mathurin Cadotte and Catherine Durand, but of Jean Francois Cadotte and Marie Josephe Proteau. Michel Cadotte is the son of that Jean Baptiste Cadotte and Marie Catherine Anastasie Nipissing Equaiwaice, (seems she gave herself a new name at every event) source Courtney Cadotte.
Married: about 1755 and church recorded October 28, 1756 at Michilimackinac a Marie (Catherine) Anastasie Sauvagesse of Nipissing (Equaysayway) who died 1766. (PQ442-520)
Marriage: 2nd marriage about 1767 Detroit a Marie Mouet (Monet) (mother Charles Langlade according to 1826 treaty) who died May 18, 1776 Montreal. Her name however is given as Therese.
Marriage: 3rd marriage about 1777 an Indian woman, union not churched
Source: Some contend Anastasie and Marie Mouet are the same person and Father Gibault made an error on the baptism of son Joseph July 29, 1768 at Detroit. Also a Jean Baptiste Cadot married 1776 in Lac des Deux Montagnes (PQ457-82) also information on third marriage by Denise Ojibwa Goldberg. We likely have a composite of two or more families??

(IV)-Charlotte Cadotte alias Cadot, Metis born October 1759 Sault Ste Marie baptised May 22, 1760 Sault Ste Marie (recorded Mackinac) died May 22, 1760 Mackinac (Tanguay Dictionnaare). Some suggest she died June 16, 1768 Notre Dame, Montreal where she is attending school (Possible two different people?). Baptismal records says daughter Athanasi.
(IV)-Jean Baptiste Cadotte alias Cadot, Metis born October 25, 1761 Makinac baptised June 29, 1762 Mackinac died (June 29, 1762 according to Tanguay Dictionary) others suggest 1818. Possible two with same name? however claimed to have married about 1797 to 1808 a Marie Janette Piquette (Saugemauqua) or (Saugimoqua) who died about 1850 daughter Jean Baptiste Piquette. 1762 death probably applies to this Cadotte and another Jean Baptiste is identified.

13, 1764 Michilimackinac, died July 8, 1837 La Pointe, Wisconsin, married
a Marie Madeline (Equaysayway) (Traveling woman) of the Flambeau Ojibwa band daughter White
Crane. (Michel son Equawaice & Equawaice is not to be confused with
(III)-Michel Cadotte born 1729).
Others suggest (Equawasay) is the daughter of Chief White Crane (Wawbiajijauk).
Others suggest it was Madeleine Kwesewen (Ikwesens). Equaysayway other
three sisters married Lyman Warren, Truman Warren and the third married James
Ermantinger and Louis Corbin.

This Jean Baptiste Cadotte is the son of Charles Cadotte and Denis Madeleine Marie Thouin Germain Roche. Charles was the son of Mathurin Cadotte and Catherine Durand. source Courtney Cadotte.
