Michael J. Fox and family hit Emmy red carpet

(Getty Images)Michael J. Fox made the Emmy red carpet a family affair, bringing along wife, Tracy Pollan, and his son, Sam, who bears a striking resemblance to his famous dad. The 51-year-old double nominee is being recognized for his guest roles as Louis Canning on "The Good Wife" and for appearing as himself on "Curb Your Enthusiasm." His son, Sam Michael, is the oldest of Fox's four children. The 23-year-old once appeared on an episode of "Spin City." While he has mom's smile, he inherited dad's eyes and looks like Fox during the "Family Ties" years.

Fox talked to E!'s Ryan Seacrest about his return to network primetime television, as NBC recently secured his sitcom after a bidding war. On the red carpet, the actor said he was ready to get back to work because he didn't want to "just sit around and get fat and old." He credits Sam and his other children, 17-year old twins Aquinnah Kathleen and Schuyler Frances, and 10-year-old Esmé Annabelle with encouraging him to get back into acting, and borrows material from them for the upcoming show. The series will be set and filmed in New York, and executive producer Will Gluck told TV Guide, "He can steal [story ideas] from his kids, he's paid for them. He owns their intellectual property."

As an actor, Michael J Fox has made us laugh and cry in a variety of roles. But the greatest role he will ever have is the one he lives every day, just going about his life, going to work, and showing us all that this damn disease may affect his body, but not his spirit.

It's not the spelling in some of these comments, it is the mean-spiritedness that bothers me. But it reflects more about how they feel about themselves than about Michael.

Michael is a great actor and a fighter too, he has overcome so much so far and I wish him all the luck in the world. He has a beautiful family.

People do not realize there are different levels of Parkinson's disease, some happen sooner, as did with Fox. I am glad he is still doing well. In my brother, his happen at 55 at got worst. He is now 65. He can barely walk or talk. When you LOOK in his eyes, you can see he is still there, but he can't let us know. It is heartbreaking...

All such positive and flattering comments here. What a nice change. I, too, would love to see a cure for this disease. I had to laugh at the last line above from his executive producer about Michael's upcoming show, "He can steal [story ideas] from his kids, he's paid for them. He owns their intellectual property." Now, that is funny.

Michael J Fox is such a class act and seems to have a wonderful family. Wish they could find a cure for PD

Why do people cry and whine so much? Why worry where the money is going. Nothing is going to change. Just be happy with the things you can control. Quit living in and loving turmoil.

I am in awe of Michael J. Fox for the way he has handled this terrible disease. He has maintained his sence of humor and serves as an outstanding role model for others who have had to, or who are currently fighting the effects of Parkinsons, and many other dibilitating conditions. And to think that he has done all this without taking a Liberal or Conservative stance. Maybe the rest of the actors and actresses in Holywood should take a lesson from him.

Why didn't anyone mention how great his wife looked. She started out as his girl friend on the Family Ties sitcom. I think she is still beautiful.

Reading these comments, y'all are all too funny! Wish all celebrities could rock the way this family does! More power to them all!

We met Mr. Fox years ago and now, as then, he is a class act. Best wishes to him and his family, and we hope he keeps fighting the good fight. Godspeed.

Michael J. Fox is an inspiration!!!! Throughout his health issues, he's continued to work in his field and still performs brilliantly. His wife seems to be amazing partner in his life. I wish Michael all the best for his future and hope he never gives up fighting to find a cure. By the way, I really don't think that his 23 year old son looks very much like him....but a handsome lad nonetheless.

Micheal should be such an inspiration to all of us. Even with dealing with Parkinson's, he still wants to do something with his life. He is a great role model.

Lucky Man to have so many special people in his life. He could have easily felt sorry for himself. Instead he rallied to make his life better for those around him. You can see that he has a strong support system around him. And yes his wife is very pretty too.

Family Ties Love! One of my fav childhood shows!

There are many things to like and admire about Michael Fox.

One of them is how he is not insecure about his height. He doesnt force his wife to cower down or wear flats like other short stars, like mainly Tom Cruise who is highly insecure about his height.

    Thank you Michael J Fox......
