Apple launches iPhone-killer in iPod touch, plus, now offering a whopping 30% discount on the iPhone itself.
We've never reviewed a phone that has offered such a fancy interface as the iPhone. On the other hand, we have rarely reviewed a phone at $600 that has scored lower on calling and messaging than the iPhone did, either. Today, Apple dropped the price to $400, and wisely cancelled the 4GB version. Listening to the angry crowd, Apple is also planning to offer ringtones at $0.99 soon.
Apple launches iPhone-killer on its own
The best news of all, however, is that the company today also launched the iPod touch. Essentially an iPhone without the GSM radio, the new iPod touch incorporates the iPhone's 3.5-inch, 480 by 320 pixel screen with multi-touch technology. The device retains the iPhone's Wi-Fi radio, which helps it to browse the Web using Safari, or stream videos using the included YouTube app. You can even buy music over the new iTunes Wi-Fi store. At the same price level as the iPhone, $400, you get the iPod touch with 16GB storage capacity. Did Apple just announce an iPhone-killer on its own?
