Women are a mystery to British physicist Hawking

LONDON (Reuters) - The biggest mystery in the universe perplexing one of the world's best known scientists is -- women.

When New Scientist magazine asked "Brief History of Time" author Stephen Hawking what he thinks about most, the Cambridge University professor renowned for unravelling some of the most complex questions in modern physics answered: "Women. They are a complete mystery."

The wheelchair-bound Hawking, who only recently retired from a post once held by Isaac Newton, talked to the magazine in the run-up to celebrations for his 70th birthday about his biggest scientific blunder and his hopes for modern science.

Hawking is due to celebrate his 70th birthday on Sunday with a public symposium entitled "The State of the Universe" at the University of Cambridge's Centre for Theoretical Cosmology.

Hawking heads a list of speakers including British Astronomer Royal Martin Rees, Nobel Prize-winning physicist Saul Perlmutter and Kip Thorne, one of the world's leading theoretical physicists.

Maybe Prof. Hawking can provide clue to what makes him think woman are a mystery and many people can help in clearing any jigsaw about women. Only Jesus Christ is a mystery anything else can be explained and Prof. knows too well to be told.

Stephen Hawking announces the biggest mystery in the universe is women. In related news, Tiger Wood's ex-wife bull-dozes a 12 million dollar mansion... I think he might be on to something!

Yes, for a species to evolve nearly identical in physical DNA makeup that both male and female are in necessary harmony for existence sets them completely apart from all other known intelligent species. No, it's not a mystery if he believed as most scientists do now that DNA eveloution would never produce a human species by accident. Stephen, women are necessary for the spiritual harmony of man.

Too, funny. Stick to physics, it's much simpler.

Stephen, just think of women as either black holes, dark energy or dark matter. They can suck you in, pull you apart, reduce you to the smallest element and spin you in circles at near the speed of light. And like gravity, their pull is irresistible to the average male mass.

It's amazing that he is turning 70 when he (and his doctors) never thought he would make it out of his 20s.

I don't understand women either, despite having been one for forty-plus years now.

Before I married my wife she always said how smart I was. After we got married, according to her, I became a complete idiot who could not even tie his own shoes without her help.
      Please explane how I retrograded.

Stephen was being funny. I just read that he is in the hospital and seriously ill.

He was diagnosed at 21 with Lou Gerig's Desease, which most people die from within a few years. He is 70 and that alone is an amazing accomplishment. I hope he makes that symposium.

Gentlemen, we are screwed. Stephen Hawking can figure out black holes in the universe but he can't figure out women? What chance do we normal people have?

If a man states an opinion in the woods and there is no woman to hear him, is he still wrong?

You don't have to understand how a TV works to enjoy watching it, do you?

Someone once said that the difference between men and women was that men only want one thing from every woman while women want everything from only one man.

Dr. Hawking was first diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis when he was an undergraduate (or new graduate) at only 21 years old. He was given only 2 to 3 years to live and debated wether it was worth working towards his doctorate as planned because he would probably be dead before he could complete it. But here he is turning 70 after a brilliant career of breakthroughs in his field of theoretical physics. What an amazing man!

My future father-in-law gave me the best advice - "Don't question them, don't try to figure them out, just let them do whatever it is they're doing".

I feel the same way about Quantum Physics.
