Free English lessons are available
By Ed Stelmach
MLA and Alberta Premier
With work, school and family, life can become pretty busy for Albertans – so busy that you may not have time to commit to additional classes, such as English language training. But thanks to a new project, English lessons can now be taken whenever and wherever it is convenient for you.
The new project can be accessed by visiting www.breakthewall.alberta.ca. This project is a great way for those in every region of Alberta to improve their English from the comfort of their own home. And the best part? It is absolutely free!
The lessons are a combination of downloadable content which requires only standard software. You can download CBC Radio One news stories that are read at a slow pace and answer a short quiz that will test you on what you heard. Each news story also comes with a lesson plan that can be printed.
The site will be updated often with new content and news stories. That means it is important to check back every week to stay up-to-date on what is happening in your province. Each week, there will be three news clips and every month, one longer feature story.
Our English language training website also provides additional information on classes and English assessment centres.
I encourage you to visit www.breakthewall.alberta.ca now and see how English language training can make a difference.
