Our Chapter was founded in November 1996 by six volunteers who wanted to make a difference in the lives of kids with diabetes. They held the first Utah Chapter Walk to Cure Diabetes and raised an amazing $75,000!!!
We have come a long way since that first Walk, now hosting FIVE Walks across the states of Utah and Idaho. This year we opened our newest Volunteer site in Idaho Falls and were able to generate nearly $23,000 from that effort!
This year our Chapter's goal is to raise $1.3 MILLION through the Walks, Rides, and Golf Marathon. Through the tireless efforts of our dedicated Board of Directors and our wonderful volunteers, we know we can make our goal!
Our Chapter gives hundreds of hours of community service each year. We give out approximately 300 "Bags of Hope" to newly diagnosed children, hold many support group meetings, meet with our elected government officials to increase federal funding of diabetes research, and attend many health fairs to educate the public about diabetes awareness.
Dan Hair is the current Utah Chapter Board President. He, along with many other professionals from our community, make up our great JDRF Utah Chapter Board of Directors. The Utah Chapter also has a Board of Chancellors, headed up by Stephanie Jones.
