Executive Board

Bill McDermott is a member of the Executive Board of SAP AG in the area of Global Field Operations, responsible for all regions worldwide, effective July 1, 2008. Since McDermott's arrival at SAP in 2002, the company in the United States has delivered 25 consecutive quarters of significant market share gains, revenue growth and customer satisfaction improvements. Under his leadership, SAP Americas appeared for the first time on BusinessWeek's list of Most Innovative Companies and has been ranked #3 in the Computer Software category of FORTUNE magazine's Most Admired Companies. McDermott has been featured in hundreds of media outlets globally, including the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, the Times of India and La Republica in Latin America. His television appearances include CNBC, Fox Business TV and CNN International, among others.

Previously, McDermott served as president and CEO of SAP Americas and Asia Pacific Japan (APJ). He assumed this position in April 2007, and was responsible for managing SAP's strategic business activities in the United States, Canada, and Latin America and in the APJ region, which includes Japan, China, and India. McDermott joined SAP in 2002 as president and CEO of SAP America, Inc.

Prior to joining SAP, McDermott served as executive vice president of worldwide sales and operations at Siebel Systems and president of Gartner, Inc., where he led the company's core operations. He spent 17 years at Xerox Corporation, where he progressively rose through the ranks to become the company's youngest corporate officer and division president. He also served on the board of directors for two company subsidiaries.

McDermott sits on the board of directors of ANSYS, a company that designs and develops engineering simulation solutions used to predict how product designs will behave in manufacturing and real-world environments. He also sits on the board of directors of Under Armour, a performance apparel company dedicated to technologically advanced products, and of PAETEC Communications, a nationwide integrated communications provider. He is a member of the Enterprise Software Roundtable and the Business Roundtable, of Aspen, Colorado and Washington, D.C., respectively.

McDermott is an active community leader and advocate for corporate social responsibility. On May 28, 2008, he was named Idealist of the Year by City Year Greater Philadelphia for his civic leadership and commitment to improving the community and lives of those who live in Philadelphia. In 2007, McDermott was named Humanitarian of the Year by Triangle, Inc., a social services organization that helps people with disabilities. A year earlier, McDermott received the Yitzhak Rabin Public Services Award for promoting technological innovation in Israel, and the Merit Award from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University as a distinguished alumnus.

McDermott serves on the Advisory Board for Villanova University and the National Advisory Board for KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program). He also serves as a charter member of the advisory council for the Hands on Network organization, a consortium of volunteer organizations in the U.S., the Philippines, and China, which develops entrepreneurial strategies for bridging community resources and needs.

McDermott holds a master's degree in business administration from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in Illinois. He completed the Executive Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Graduate School of Management in Philadelphia and holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Dowling College in New York.
