10 Reasons Why you should not ask what your lawyer can do for you but what you can do for your lawyer to help you!

When asked why our law firm has had so much success, I often answer that the successful outcome would not have been possible had the client not collaborated with us. The truth is that a cooperative client is imperative in furtherance of any good case. This means, among other things, that you will be candid with your lawyer and also to disclose as much facts as possible.

Indeed, more evidence and facts that a lawyer has on the case, better are our chances to succeed. Facts are so important that someone said that law students should not go to “law” school but to “facts” school. If you are able to get your facts right, it is easier for your lawyer to assess your case and eventually win the case or advise accordingly. Therefore, first rule never omit or conceal any facts from your lawyer. On the other hand, do not expect your lawyer to make up the facts for you.

The popular belief that lawyers “make up a story” is wrong. Many might not know, lawyers are first officers of the court, then your advocate. This means that lawyers have to make sure that they are not filing frivolous claims or false evidence. Lawyers are not allowed to “make up stories”. The main task of a lawyer is to look at the circumstances of a case and then try their best to protect, defend or advance on a particular matter. Failure to do this can subject the lawyer to discipline.
