New Delhi, Jan. 24: President Voroshilov of the U.S.S.R declared here today that the Soviet Union would disband all her armed forces and destroy all her weapons including rockets and nuclear bombs once the world agreed on universal and total disarmament.
Pending that she was forced to keep the necessary armed forces for self-defence, he said.
Replying to a civic address presented by the Delhi Municipal Corporation, he said the Soviet Union would continue to work for lasting world peace and relieving mankind from the fear of war. She would participate in the proposed summit talks hoping to achieve solutions of the pressing problems of the present times, he said.
People all over the world, he said, held great hopes about the forthcoming summit meet.
The agreement on the holding of such a meeting was by itself a gratifying progress in international relationship, Voroshilov said.
