Married about 1799 York Factory, Hudson Bay Jane (later called surname Bruce) Indian born about 1760 died Red River October, 9 1844.  Other records suggest married Jane Prince Cree (1780-1844).  Relationship conflict between Metis script records, Red River census and Denny papers.  Also see Sweet Promises by J.R. Miller and Genealogy First Metis Nation.  Also see Many Tender Ties suggesting George (1) had eight children.  It would appear there are more than one Jane and or Jane Prince married to a George, see 1825.

1815, February 11, journal James Swain at York Factory: Captain Taylor's wife came for a little Provision.  Gave her a little biscuit, pemmican, damaged salt beef etc.  It is believed that George abandoned his wife and nine children in 1815 and again in 1818 for the last time.

"George Taylor born August 19, 1759 (Berwick) Balmbroueh/Bamburgh, England baptized August 19, 1749 Berwick England,  Sloop Master, died after 1818 likely England.  This George and (1a) George must be same person.

George Taylor (3) a Metis born Norway House (this entry is later scratched out and replaced with England) a sloop master and married January 11, 1820 Red River Jane Prince Indian woman born 1808 of Albany House.  There appears to be some confusion between George 1 & 3.  It would appear the source record is altered some time after the fact.  This is likely George Junior born 1792 son (1a) George Sr. and Jane

1829 Old Widow Taylor Jane Prince Cree (1780-1844) is living with her daughter Margaret at Bas De La River.  She names four daughters in her will (*)

EIGHT OR FOURTEEN CHILDREN ARE RECORDED:

Married August 16, 1831 St. John, Red River Mary Kieth (Kerth) Metis born 1811

Daughter Chief Factor James Keith.  Likely represents two different Thomas as the personal servant to George Simpson is born 1838 and is placed in service in 1850.

David Jones (her age listed born 1818) Amable Hogue (Hoog) a French Canadian Metis born 1795 Canada (ID # 2211 & 2084) baptized July 14, 1796, died 1858 son Louis Amable and Marie Anne Labella.  Margaret is widowed in 1876.  One son George Stewart Simpson (1827-1894) was reduced to a begger's child by 1840.

( source (Nina Hurteau/D.T. Lahey) 2nd marriage March 24, 1831 Amable Hogue  Same person as above

These children likely belong to George (3) as George (1) departed 1815? and/or some may be illegitimate of Jane Prince Cree Taylor

(IIa)-Mary Taylor (*) Metis born 1827 daughter George b-1760 and Jane Indian (1) married John Stewart (Stuart) (d-1847) Chief Factor Bas de la Riviere, who abandoned her 1835, 2nd marriage James Hargrave he refused to be churched.  May represent two different Mary's.  After 1837 she went to England but returned by 1839.  Mary Taylor who married John Stewart is daughter (1a) George Taylor b-1760 and Jane Indian.

(II)-Peter Taylor Metis born after 1790 died December 12, 1837 or 1838? source Zelia Chevalier, see baptism 1836?  (Nina Hurteau suggests he joined HBC 1826-1837) assigned (1826-1831) Columbia District Vancouver and coastal service he is son (Ia) George Taylor (1759-1838) and Jane Indian and starved to death on Arctic discovery expedition with Dease & Simpson of 1839.) 1737/8 death is based on George Simpson account, the 1839 date is based on HBC achieves which contains a different account of his death.

(II)-Nancy (Anne) Taylor (*) born 1818 N.W.T. daughter George Taylor (2) (ID # 4638) born 1800 and Jane born 1808; married November 11, 1835 John Cox born 1795 or 1799 Scotland.  Source Genealogy First Metis Nation.  This is an obvious error as Jane born 1808 would only be ten and they didn't marry until 1828.  Most likely the daughter George Taylor (1) born 1760 and Jane Indian.  Could be confusion with Ann Taylor born 1811 married August 17, 1831 St. Johns, Red River a William Harper born 1806.  (Nina Hurteau suggests Anne Nancy born about 1818 had two marriages 1st William Harper and 2nd John Cox).

George Stewart Taylor born February 11, 1827 York Factory son George Taylor baptised August 19, 1828 York Factory.
