Dr. Vaish is a principal and Founder at Balanced Growth Fund, an early stage venture capital investment partnership, established in 1990. Balanced Growth Fund has provided angel round funding and other support to more than 30 start-ups in selected high technology sectors in the Silicon Valley.

After a B. Tech. from IIT Delhi in 1968, Dr. Vaish went on to complete his PhD in Structural Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley (1972) and an MBA from St Mary's College in Moraga, California in 1981.

In 1972 he joined a fledgling Impel Corporation in San Francisco, a company providing specialized engineering services to the Nuclear Power Industry. This company grew to 1750 employees before being bought out by Combustion Engineering in 1983. Dr. Vaish then worked in the Offshore Oil Industry with a successful company acquired by Bechtel in 1986.

Besides business, his passions include nature photography, travel and wildlife, astronomy, archaeology, mathematics, science and philanthropy.
