CAGAYAN DE ORO- Award eyes Cagayan de Oro City as one of the Top Ten Next Wave Cities for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) investment opportunities.
The Commission on Information and Communications Technology spearheaded by Secretary Ray Anthony Roxas-Chua III presented to City Mayor Tinnex Jaraula, CDO ICT Business Council Chairman Engineer Elpidio Paras and ORO CHAMBER President Rodolfo L. Meñes the TOP TEN NEXT WAVE CITY 2008 AWARD during the conduct of the ICT Convergence 2009 on November 12, 2009 at Pryce Plaza Hotel, CDO City.
Cagayan de Oro City is recognized for its inspiring achievements as one of the country’s best ten outsourcing locations in 2008 with an overall score of 73.13% and a score of 62.80% on the availability of ICT talents.
“This recognition is the fruit of the hard labor of our City Government under the leadership of Mayor Tinnex Jaraula”, said Engr. Elpie Paras.
He said that they are very happy to receive such award and that the city is ready to work harder to boost business climate in their area.
Oro Chamber President Rudy Menes said, “We in the Oro Chamber are indeed happy about this development. This only proves the dynamic working partnership between the City, Province, regional line agencies, non-government organizations and chambers of commerce to propel the economy of the region through optimizing ICT resources.”
Paras added that “we will not sit on our laurels because there are still a lot of things to be done to enhance the competitiveness of our city.”
CICT Manila organized the ICT Convergence 2009 in Cagayan de Oro City, in cooperation with the Cagayan de Oro ICT Business Council, NCC 10, NTC 10 and ORO CHAMBER. The two–day road is designed to promote the City as one of the country’s next ICT hub.
The event was also supported by BAYAN Telecommunications, DILG 10, DOST 10, DTI 10, NEDA 10, PARASAT Cable TV, STI College, SUNSTAR CDO, SYNNEX-CONCENTRIX and TELOF REGION 10. (PR)
