NEW YORK — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has called for measures to make life better for people with developmental disabilities during a speech in New York.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate's son Trig has Down syndrome.

Palin says God has shown her family through the example of her son that "every single person has purpose no matter their developmental abilities."

Palin was being honored Sunday at an anniversary celebration for the Long Island-based Independent Group Home Living Inc. after attending a New York Yankees game. She was joined by her husband, daughter Willow and a sister.

More than 20,000 people saw Palin on Saturday in upstate Auburn, where she led a parade to celebrate Founder's Day and helped raise money for a museum honoring William Seward, the secretary of state who acquired Alaska for the United States.

Stem Cells for Autism - An Open Letter to President Obama

Cologne, Germany (PRWEB) June 8, 2009 -- The mother of a Bayport, New York girl reaches out to President Obama to make stem cell therapy available in America after her daughter's successful treatment in Germany at the XCell-Center in January 2009.

Just when I was about to give SP kudos for taking time out to walk for autism, I began reading some of the other posts which reflected some skepticism in her actions " so, being sleuth like I did some digging. There are accounts and pictures of her at the Founder"s Day Celebration in honor of William Seward who arranged for the purchase of Alaska, I can find nothing of SP"s walk for autism.

Does anyone have proof that SP actually participated in the walk for autism? According to the Autism Speaks website, SP"s nephew (her sister"s son) is on the "autism spectrum." It seems that her daughter Bristol and "First Dude" made the trip to New York as well.

Since she was one of the main headliners, I was surprised not to see her face in the crowd.

Here is the link to the local paper's coverage of the event:

If you read the comments, people who attended the event said that she only walked a quarter of a mile before she booked it out of there.

Check out the pics - the woman shows up to a autism walk in a tight skirt and expect people to believe that she fully intended to complete the walk?

This one is a real piece of work.

Someone who posted on Mudflats, and who lives in NY, noted that these Press releases keep saying 20,000 people showed up to see her. This implies that they were all there to see her and were Fans.
This would be incorrect. This was no ' Palin Rally'.
This ' number' is the same number of people that show up every year for the events going on.

Someone who lives there knows this to be true. Too bad the Media can't get the story straight.

What a joke. Look out-- now Palin will try to claim she cured Autism by clicking her "red Franco Sarto" heels.

WHO Cares! she can do what she wants. Democrats will never vote for her to be President--You don't get a second chance to make a first impression!

Well most republicans won't vote for her either. She's basically finished because the Alaskans will not re-elect her.

Really 20,000 people showed up just to see Sarah Palin? Why do I find this so.... hard to believe.

Did she ever restore the funding to the Special Olympics in Alaska after cutting them by half?

Q. What do you call a governor that is willing to fly 5000 miles to do a charity walk for the same funds she rejected for her own state.

A. Unemployed in 2010.

HA HA, I love it! It's pretty funny. I thinks she thinks her constituents see her as a hero for rejecting funds. She's clueless.

Has Palin ever explained why her god inflicts these terrible conditions on children, or at least fails to prevent them?

I cannot believe she is doing this for altruistic reasons. This is to get attention.

She doesn't even know what autism is. She thought it was a celebration of the Fall.

Has not anyone commented on the shoes she wore? Any day she is in the lower 48 is a great day for Alaska.
