Nick Kroll was raised Jewish in Westchester County, NY.

He went to the
Solomon Schechter School of Westchester
until the 8th grade, but then left for high school going to
Rye Country Day
. During these years he also briefly attended
The Mountain School
in
Vermont
where he where he developed his fondness for hiking.

Rye Country Day School
he went on to graduate from
Georgetown University
.

. Kroll's live work is a mix of standup, sketch and characters. He is well known as a performer for his characters: Bobby Bottleservice; Fabrice Fabrice, craft services coordinator for the sitcom

Oh, Hello Show, which he created with writing partner
John Mulaney

, where he gave a contentious graduation speech in which, contrary to widespread belief, he did not expose his genitals, although he did gently chastise the school administration.

In November and December 2008, he toured as the support with Aziz Ansari
on his
Glow in the Dark comedy tour in the USA.
Also in 2008, Kroll played the role of Versatio Bakir in the critically acclaimed comedy film Adventures of Power
as the comic MC of an airdrumming competition. His other co-stars included Ari Gold

. Later, Kroll signed several items in support of director Ari Gold's music education charity auction "Power Saves the Music",

In 2009, Kroll became a regular voice cast member of the animated Fox comedy series Sit Down, Shut Up
. He voiced Andrew LeGustambos, the flamboyant, bisexual drama teacher. According to Kroll, Andrew is (alongside Helen) a loser amongst losers.[9]
Kroll voices him to talk like a "modern day Snagglepuss".[9]
