Cranberries, Jimmy Choo and Uggs

I really, really like cranberries. Put cranberries in it, on it, around it and I'll eat it. Well within reasons, let's not get silly here people. I'm not much of a cereal eater, especially since I do not consume milk, but Post's Cranberry Almond Crunch is my cereal of choice. Just had a bowlful for lunch. Yum. Of course instead of milk I put cranberry juice on it - double yum. I just wish the stuff wasn't so expensive - small box is like $4.89 and I get about 3 servings out of it - Phooey!

In today's Style Section of the New York Times is a huge advertisement for Jimmy Choo designed UGG boots. Say Wha?

I have heard that Jimmy Choo shoes are incredibly uncomfortable and since my disability keeps me from wearing drop-dead gorgeous stilettos (Ah, I miss the old days!) it's really not an issue for me. My innate sense of good taste keeps me from buying UGG boots, have you ever seen such an aptly named product? Now for all you fashionistas, you can combine the gorgeous with the ugly and get - really ugly! And all for only $495 (and up!) But at least they will probably be comfy!

Continuing the fashion theme, Sharla of Beaded Tail actually found me yoga pants without sidepockets for a very reasonable price at J.C. Penney. How cool was that? Thank you, Sharla! Supposedly these pants were $30 but are now on sale for $14.99. I would have preferred paying even less than that but it's the first reasonable price I have seen. I ordered 5 pair. Yes, I need that many because I wear them once then into the hamper. (yes, yes - all clothing gets hampered after one wearing which is why everything I buy is machine washable.)

I got nothing else for ya today - the cats have been weirder than usual. Frankie LuLu Belle is my new best friend. Frankie has never been anybody's best friend. BB, the orange boy is getting frantic about his morning mushy food again, scarfing it down so fast he immediately barfs it back up. My husband has to quickly clean it up before Zeke the Hulk realizes there is already digested food available! It's not so much that Zeke is lazy it's just that he is not the most energetic cat. Look how much time and energy BB is saving him! Now a little Frankie inspired tune to wrap it up for today:

Ping-pong brain day...

My brain is on overload. Lin and Jennifer got me thinking about things I would like to write about but really should not even be thinking about. Issues I wish were dead and gone instead of just gone - some things never die.

Did you ever take an instant dislike to someone the first moment you spoke with them? I've had this happen with people the first moment I met them but via telephone? I am trying to find some house cleaning help. The last lady who we hired was super-duper but she never came back after the first time and she didn't respond to my phone calls. I think when she found out my husband works for CBP it kinda scared her.

I sent emails to 2 companies I found on Angie's List and one of them called me this morning. First off she said "I sent you an email reply" No, no - she didn't. Moving on. She started rattling off a whole lot of prices and whatall - I said my house doesn't need a deep cleaning I just need the floors washed and the blinds dusted. More yadda yadda yadda from her and I'm getting more pissed by the minute. I hung up and sent her an email saying "Nope you never sent an email and I think I'll keep looking" Bitch irked me from the moment she said "hello".

Spent way too much time delightedly looking through Lisa's Etsy Shop and her Flickr stream. Her business Facebook page had a great deal on holiday photo cards. I don't have any personal photos to use so I asked about a set of cards from her photos. Long story short (yeah like I ever do that!) I found 4 great photos that would be perfect for holiday cards and I emailed her an order. Lisa is an amazing photographer. She does weddings and family events but I think her strengths, as far as art photography is concerned, is landscapes. She just has that "eye". I kept clicking through her Flickr stuff and OMG'ing.

Now I have decided that I want to make lemon bars. It's kinda an icky day here. If you click on the recipe tab (above) you'll find the one for the lemon bars. So good. Beyond good, fabulous. I'm so hungry.

Things I also wanted to do today - Start on a few more spread sheets for tax time. I have an on-going one for medical expenses but I need to put one together for household expenses and my husband's business travel expenses. The accountant loves me.

I also need to do more shopping. My husband and I both need slippers. I thought I could get away with buying his later and giving them to him for Christmas but he really needs them now. You may think that is an easy-peasy task but you go look for indoor/outdoor warm slippers in size 15W - Ha! - not so easy, eh?

And I still haven't found casual, yoga type pants without pockets for myself - unless of course I want to spend $25 or more for them. I ain't spending that kind of money just for hanging around the house clothes...And then of course there is...

They call me mellow yellow

I woke up in the middle of the night with this song in my head. It was still there this morning when I got up. Maybe because yesterday I put the new yellow cover on the bed and spent quite a bit of time admiring it. It goes so well with the espresso color finish of the bed and the dark purple sheets. Walking into the bathroom, I consciously admired the bright yellow paint - I think it's called "Morning Sunshine" or something like that. (The basement is painted "lemon ice"). All day yesterday I was thinking about yellow and how much I like it and how much I am surrounded by it - by choice.

I decided to look up the meaning of yellow, I'd rather not re-hash so if you like you can read about it HERE. So many different interpretations.  I have always preferred yellow roses to any other color and at one time I read that yellow roses symbolized constancy. Nowadays yellow roses symbolize friendship. Either way, I can relate.

Yellow and purple, my colors of choice. And not teeny-bopper purple - real deep rich lush purple. My colors used to be red and black - everything in my world was red and black. It seems those colors are low on the spiritual totem pole, so my soul may be evolving - onward and upward. As journeys go, this is a very good one.

The other song in my head is

Let's all just a sing a song today. Start as you mean to finish - on a sweet and happy note!

Ah, James Galway...close your eyes and let it just wash over you - Peace.

Going backwards to go forwards

So I finally I got my Apple keyboard and attached it to my lap top. Now I have to get used to typing like a normal person again. What I always loved about laptop keyboards was how flat and slim they were. When I still used a desk top computer I would buy a new keyboard every few months, never liked any of them much and I could never find a slimline keyboard. So now I have a full size keyboard and a numeric key pad (us old time bookkeepers like our numeric keypads) and I'm pretty much a happy camper as I try to get used to typing normally again. I dislike typing on the laptop so much that except for this blog I kept all correspondence to a few sentences. And you know what, if I wanted to I could attach this keyboard to my iPad - oho!

A new browser was announced last week, Rock Melt, and I immediately signed on to get a crack at it. The beta version was "invitation only". It's really easy to get an invitation, just click HERE. My invitation showed up today, so I downloaded it and I must say it has its good points. It is geared to social networking sites - primarily FaceBook and Twitter. You can import your bookmarks from another browser quick as a wink and I like the way it looks and all, but I am spoiled by Firefox and all the nifty add-ons, like Ad Block Plus, a totally essential little program for using the internet. (Tired of seeing ads on every page? Install Ad Block Plus and never see another ad! Yay!)

If you are all into FB and Twitter and chatting with your FB friends then you will love RockMelt - you can connect to everything and everyone from one page. Very nifty idea for those who need it. Me, I deleted the program from my computer. Easy come, easy go.

Oh and I found this really cool download for Firefox. It's called Auto Pager, and it just makes my life a teeny bit easier and I'm all for that. What it does is let you read an entire page without having to click "READ MORE" - you just keep scrolling and the page keeps unfolding. It's just a little thing but so many blogs use that "Read More" thing (I can't get it to work on this blog) and it is just more thing you have to click. Blogs and sites that use that feature get a pass from me - with a few exceptions of course. I do anything for my friends. If you're not a friend, I ain't clicking. With Auto-Pager I might read more, then again maybe not, but it is nice to have.

Isn't it interesting being a luddite and a nerd at the same time?
