Pharmacists dispense prescription drugs to patients. They provide information about those drugs and help patients understand the instructions their doctors or other health practitioners provided. They monitor their patient’ health and progress to make sure their medications are working effectively and safely.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
Must have passed the North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX) and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam (MPJE) (except California). California Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam (California)
Licenses or Certification:
Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D)
BLS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequent and prolonged periods of standing and walking, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Pharmacists work in clean, well-lighted, and well-ventilated areas. Most of the workday is on their feet. May work with sterile or potentially dangerous pharmaceutical products.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Pharmacist reports to the Operations Manager or Division Manager. This position will also have accountability to the Department Pharmacist.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Compound and dispense medicines prescribed by physicians, dentists, or other authorized health care providers.
