A fair warning: I’ve been out of HP fandom for quite a while by now. As I read HP fiction nearly not at all nowadays, please don’t expect these listings of mine to be kept up to date. If you report a broken link or suggest a new addition, I might fix/add it… in half a year. So please don’t use these lists as a proper gateway but rather as a general guidance for what to look in other places if you find a dead end here. For new stuff, check comments.

Drinking games/contests/dares/bets in HP fiction. On Laebeth’s request.

RULES:

What I take:

- fics where ‘truth or dare’ is played;
- fics where there are dares or bets or wagers of another kind, for example, Seamus dares Harry to write something on Snape’s blackboard;
- drinking contests or games.

Won’t do:

- if characters just got drunk/ are drinking without contests, daring or games;
- if ‘truth or dare’ or other dare/bet is mentioned but isn’t described, isn’t actually present in the fic either itself or as its consequences;
- if Veritaserum was used for interrogation and not at all gamely.
- no WIPs that have only a chapter or two written;
- no drabbles;
- do not bring fics you haven’t read;
- do not bring fics you didn’t like;
- do not bring fics the authors of which show no grammar or spelling skill even if you liked them;
- do me a courtesy, please, do not leave only a link. I’d be really grateful if you tell me (besides the title and author) whether the fic is a WIP or completed, what the pairings and the rating are; what kind of bet/dare/drinking game there is. You’ll spare me hours of rushed reading!

Snape/Lupin and lots of other pairings, NC-17, novella. Warnings: Check the header for each of the 31 segments. Written before DH. Summary: A story in which Severus Snape learns not to speak or make bets when drunk, Remus Lupin is taught one or two practical things he didn’t know before and the rest of the Order is educated in how it is a very imprudent idea to think that they, even united, can beat Severus Snape on a turf on which he has had the opportunity to practise.

Summary: “One Halloween at Hogwarts, the students participate in a fancy dress ball, staff vs students Quidditch, and a secret after-party party, where a drunken game of Truth or Dare reveals a hidden desire between two of the most infamous students… Featuring: a stereotypical Hermione, a party-animal Ron, a bored Harry, and a sexy sneering Draco!”

A Bad Idea, by roreword
Harry/Draco, PG-13, short. Prompt: 27, for spark_of_chaos: I’m quite fed up with post-Hogwarts stuff. I want a Hogwarts-era H/D (doesn’t matter if AU or 7th year or whatever) where boys are boys, do silly stuff, challenge each other over broom races at the stroke of midnight, play smut-inducing games like Truth or Dare/Spin the bottle, and totally refuse to even consider are they actually having a relationship. Harry/Draco. NC-17, novel-length. Summary: “Due to a difference of opinion, Draco is disinherited by his father. He now has to make his own way in life.” A minor point midway through the story involves Colin Creevy playing Truth or Dare and having to kiss Harry. Draco agrees to hide Harry, which is one of their first chances at polite conversation.

Snape/Harry (mentions of Harry/other males and Ron/Hermione), PG-13, short. Summary:: This is what happens when your friends come up with stupid ideas while drunk.

Harry/Draco; NC-17, one-shot. It’s not exactly a drinking game, it’s more a drinking ritual leading to a lot of mischief, pranks and other funny things. At the end of the 7th year, all houses unite for a night of drinking. There’s a bet running on making Draco lose control.

Slash and het. Snape/Hermione, Harry/Draco; NC-17; novel-length. In one of the earlier chapters, Harry and others are playing Truth or Dare and Hermione is dared to throw a bucket of water on Snape. A little later, during her detention with Snape, Hermione finds herself locked in a small room with the professor. They get drunk and play Truth or Dare as well.
