Las Vegas Forum: Helicopter tour to Grand Canyon - is it worth it

YES...it's worth it! We went to the West Rim, landed by the Colorado River..it was great.

We've also been to the South Rim and spent the night. We drove there from Vegas.

The helicopter trip was so much more fun and adventurous than the trip to the South Rim. We enjoyed both but if you are looking for adventure as well, take the helicopter.

We used Papillon. They were great! Very professional..no worries.

the Maverick helicopter tour - is it also suitable for children?

yes, Maverick's tours, as with other conpanies, is suitable for children...just be aware of the price... its fun to do a heli tour; fits many ages.

Have just returned from trip to USA, including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Fran. The highlight of the trip was by far the 1 day trip from Vegas into the Grand Canyon West.

Sundance Helicopters offer an amazing trip. We left Vegas early on thanks giving morning and went over Hoover Dam and Lake Meade before landing on the banks of the Colarado River. 15 minute small boat ride down the Colorado was amazing.

After this, we took helicopter back up to the Western Rim, and spent three hours at Eagle Point (Sky Walk), Indian Village and Guano Point (Note, you can also see the Hualapini Ranch, Western Town and Cowboy Cookin).

On way back to Helicpoter Terminal, completed a trip down the strip to get a better feel for the casinos and the grand nature that is Las Vegas.

Would highly recommend Sundance to anyone wanting to experience the Magic that is the Grand Canyon!

In terms of the magic of Grand Canyon though, while flying in a heli and landing in GC West is nice, that feeling is enhanced by seeing the South Rim of GC :) .
