Just over a month ago, Facebook rolled out a new homepage redesign. Now it looks like the social network isn’t completely satisfied with the results, as it’s now testing yet another homepage redesign.

We don’t know when the new design will launch yet, but we have analyzed several screenshots of the new FacebookFacebookFacebook that were sent to us. While most of the changes are minor, there are a few that really stand out and reveal Facebook’s strategy and future direction.

  • Millions of people might be hitting retail sites today for Cyber Monday, but are they also hitting Twitter to the point that the site is failing?

We’re not sure, but thousands of users are currently seeing the infamous “fail whale” when attempting to load pages on TwitterTwitterTwitter.com.

  • Net Usage IndexData from Black Friday and the weekend points to a growing trend where consumers aren’t waiting for Cyber Monday to take advantage of online deals.

We already know that the average online purchase was up by 35% and that overall online sales were up 11% from last year, so despite the bevy of deals today, there’s been some speculation as to whether Cyber Monday would carry the same weight with consumers as in years past.

  • graffitiOver the past 3 plus years, we’ve seen Twitter embraced by a variety of different communities — think big brands, small businesses, PR and marketing types, media outlets, journalists, moms, and public service agencies. Most of us know, however, that for every positive Twitter use case there’s one that’s just as negative.

There have already been stories of burglars hip to Twitter who rob unwitting victims that have tweeted their whereabouts, and now the New York Daily News is reporting that street gangs in New York have found both a tailored purpose and practice for the micro medium.

  • cosbyreply1You might remember comedian Bill Cosby is making a push into social media, resulting in some skepticism from our side about how savvy the sweater-clad star was to the social media space. If Cosby sent us a video reply on video-sharing site 12seconds, I’d wear a Cosby sweater on my Facebook profile, I wagered … and lost.

Today, bizarrely, that story made it into the New York Times, leading us to conclude that Cosby is either old-media savvy, too, or has the best PR firm known to man. The Times writes:

  • saleToday, nearly 100 million Americans are expected to shop online in one of the biggest retail days of the year for ecommerce sites. Billions of dollars will likely be spent, and for those who know where to look, there are amazing deals to be found on everything from electronics to clothing to airfare.

Below are 5 tips for the savvy Cyber Monday shopper to help you find the best deals. If you have any other tips, or would like to expand on the ones listed here, please leave a comment.

  • android guyEven before Android entered the tech world lexicon, there were rumors of a mythical “Google Phone” – that is, a phone whose hardware is made (or at least branded) as being officially from Google.

Much like the Google Browser and the Google OS have become realities, rumors are once-again swirling that an actual Google-developed hardware handset is in the works. A GoogleGoogleGoogle exec in the AndroidAndroidAndroid division denied these reports to CNET, but that hasn’t stopped the rumors. Now Gizmodo is reporting that a reliable source has claimed to have seen this device with his own eyes, calling the Google Phone “a certainty.”

  • airplaneIt’s officially the holiday season, and one thing that most consumers associate with this time of year is exorbitant airfare prices.

This year, however, a few of the major airlines are using Cyber Monday to offer deeply discounted airfare prices to consumers.

United, JetBlue, and Virgin America have all just announced special one-day prices, with all of them practically giving flights away to select destinations starting at $39 each way.

  • amazon dealsAmazon killed their brick and mortar competition when it came to Black Friday Twitter buzz, and when all was said and done they were also the most visited website on Black Friday as well.

The deals, however, are just getting started as today kicks off Amazon’s Cyber Monday discount extravaganza. So, while you can poke around their website and find deeply discounted products, we think you’ll be best served by paying extra close attention to their @AmazonDeals TwitterTwitterTwitter account.

  • Missed out on the Black Friday discounts? Never fear, Cyber Monday is here! Even though more and more online retailers are starting to get in on the Black Friday sales bonanza, the tradition of Cyber Monday — where we shop online from work and save big — continues to flourish.

We scoured through the deals and collected five can’t-miss favorites for this savings happy work day. From Blu-ray players to Netbooks and designer-jeans to HDTVs, there are deals to be had across the board.

  • In the past few weeks, we’ve seen lots of Twitter applications push out upgrades in an effort to keep pace with Twitter’s newest capabilities, like native retweets, geolocation, and Twitter Lists.

Noticeably absent from the onslaught has been TweetDeckTweetDeckTweetDeck, which is still the most popular TwitterTwitterTwitter client on the desktop. Today, TweetDeck has answered big time, introducing support for all of these features and more.

  • avatar-facebook-smOne of the most anticipated films of the year is James Cameron’s “Avatar.” Last week, we wrote about the film’s interactive trailer (awesome) and now that the release date is just a few weeks away, Fox has really started to amp up the publicity campaign, including new social media outreach.

Variety reports that Fox is teaming up with MTV.com and FacebookFacebookFacebook to bring a live webcast roundtable of the film to fans on Thursday, December 3 and 3 PM ET.

  • People lose their inhibitions behind the anonymity of the Internet? No way! While this will come as a shock to no one that’s spent much time on social media sites and blogs, new stats published today by eMarketer demonstrate just how much of an impact that the Web is having on people speaking their mind.

According to the research, originally conducted by by Euro RSCG Worldwide, about 31% of adults feel empowered to do something they’ve been wanting to do thanks to social media, while 20% have used the medium to lash out at companies and brands they feel wronged by. The Internet is also a big help when it comes to trying to meet new people.
