Ceremony to launch the Computers to Excel Initiative

Sunday 18 October, 2009 will witness a ceremony to launch the Computers to Excel Initiative sponsored by the Ministry of Education. The celebration will be held in Mubarak City for Education in 6th of October City.

The ceremony will be within the framework of the annual celebration organized by the Ministry of Education in Mubarak City for Education to honor distinguished students who completed the primary stage of the basic education system in public schools from all over the country.

Dr. Ahmed Nazif, Egyptian Prime Minister, Dr. Tarek Kamel, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Dr. Yousry Al Gamal, Minister of Education will attend the ceremony in addition to a number of Governors and Educators.

The ceremony will be divided into two halves. The first half will be an exhibition for the computers offered by a number of national and international companies. The second half will be at the stage to honor the students.

30 students who completed the primary stage are expected to be honored during the celebration.

Also during the ceremony a film about the impact of ICT on the educational process will be presented, in addition a word by Dr. Yousry Al Gamal, Minister of Education.

The prizes will vary between personal computers (PC) and laptops. 20000 computers will go to distinguished students, divided into 4000 laptops and 16000 PCs. 20000 USBs will also be distributed, in addition to 2000 laptops for outstanding teachers and 20000 USBs.

From his side, Dr. Tarek Kamel said that during the ceremony there will be a presentation about the achievements made regarding the use technology in education.

It is worth mentioning that the 1st implementation of the Computers to Excel Initiative was in the year 2007
