Hi Guys, well ... I've been suffering this issue since last december !
Well ... I've almost got insane, but I keeped living with problem ...
So, I've got MAD with this, and searched almost ALL google pages because of it, so, follow the solution:
First of all ... THIS INS'T a Windows problem, this is a HARDWARE PROBLEM, Windows just found it's way to log some error, that in fact has NOTHING related to the real problem.
My system aspecs:
XFX 780I 3-Way SLI
Q9650@4050Mhz
4X 1GB Kingston HyperX 1066@1080
2 Samsung 160GB RAID-0 / 1 Samsung 250GB
SLI XFX 9600GT XXX
Cooler Master 700W Real Power
Windows Vista Ultimate X64 SP2 and Fully updated
I don't really know if it will apply to all you ... What did I realized, is that many of people who face it have a nForce chipset, no matter which one, but they have a nForce chipset.
Another commom found, was that the windows "Freeze" when we are in "Idle" state ... as many people state that ... During load ( gamming, or some hard CPU work ) the problem do not happen, so, see it either happen to you, if so, the solution will help you too.
Well ... after looking after this like crazy, I've realized that in "Idle" state my windows freeze, so I've checked ALL the hardware parts, memories, cpu, voltagens, GPU'S ... and got nothing ...
So, I was looking for WHAT is the difference in being idle or load ... trying to find out what is happening ...
A basic BIOS setup active an option called C1 STATE ... this option make your processor to change it's Multiplier to a lower one.
Exemple:
If I'm using a multiplier of 9x, using the C1 STATE in Bios ... My multiplier will be reduced to x8 when idle ...
Well, this is it ... after changing the C1 State to DISABLED on the bios, the problem was finally gone ^^
Many people solved their problem changing their PSU, I don't know if it can solve this issue ... but I have a Theory about What makes it:
"When you are at load, your PSU send the necessary voltage to your CPU, so, it will not gonna crash ... when you're at idle state, the PSU change the voltage value, what can make the windows to Freeze ...
After so long looking for a solution to this, I've figured out ( at least for me ) ... what was causing this issue.
I've reported this problem to nVidia, I'm waiting their answer ... I'm not sure but, I think that a new Bios can solve it ...
Well Guys, I hope to did a good job posting it ...
Sorry for some English mystakes, I'm Brazillian with a intermediate English hehe ^^
Well, see yaa !
Regards, Davi Nigro !
