Musharraf says he empowered people
ISLAMABAD: President Musharraf said Monday that there was no democracy before him and he empowered the people and gave freedom of expression in the country.

While giving an interview to foreign media, he said that extraordinary measures would have to be taken up for situation to improve.

Talking on the occasion, he vowed to take off his army uniform before taking oath. However, he said that a large number of Pakistanis wanted him to retain the uniform.

?Whatever I am doing, it is completely in the interest of Pakistan and not spurred by any pressure from anybody whosoever,? he said.
