    2. WHAT’S NEW
      • The new COMNAVAIRFORINST 1414.2B is a complete program re-write.
      • No longer a PQS system; it now uses a controlled/platform specific Qualification Card and Study Guide.
      • T/M/S Study Guides are now controlled and produced by the Master Leads of each platform.
      • Requirement for a annual review, update, and/or change of the Study Guide and Qualification Card to ensure personnel are learning the most current information.
      • Updates are submitted to COMNAVAIRPAC for posting on SharePoint website; central location prevents outdated materials being used.

      • Sailors currently enrolled in, and 50% complete with, the NAVEDTRA 43902 EAWS Program shall continue qualification under that program.
      • Sailors currently enrolled in the NAVEDTRA 43902 but less than 50% complete shall have their progress transferred to the Qualification Card via the Program Coordinator.
      • Gaining command of transferred personnel shall recognize all qualification progress as long as the period between detachment and reporting is less than 12 months.

    3. WHAT’S NEW
      • ACDU/FTS Sailors: 30 consecutive months to qualify, SELRES Sailors: 60 Consecutive months to qualify
      • COMNAVAIRFOR is responsible for Phase I content, no additions/deletions are authorized.
      • Personnel assigned TAD from non-qualifying units are PROHIBITED from enrolling/qualifying EAWS..
      • Aviation Warfare pennant is authorized to be flown when 75% of crew are currently qualified EAWS.
      • EAWS Qualification will consists of:
      Qual Card Completion
      Demonstrate practical knowledge via Walk-around/Walk-through
      Pass written examination with a 80% or above
      Satisfactorily pass oral board
      Service Record Entry

    4. Qualification Card
      • Four (4) Phase system (4th is the final exam)
      • Phase 1 – Command Orientation
      • 4 months to complete (estimated)
      • Not pre-requisite based
      • Provides the basics, does not substitute or replace actual qualification (I.E. CPR/Firefighting)

      • Phase 1I – Departmental Qualifications
      • 9 months dwell (estimated)
      • Different rates will have different dwell lengths
      • No required monthly progress towards EAWS qualification during dwell

      • Phase 1II – Aircraft and Systems
      • Master Lead controls Study Guide
      • 9 months to complete (estimated)
      • Each Block has a review for comprehension that is signed by the EAWS Coordinator

      • Phase 1V – Final Exam and Qual
      • 2 months to complete (estimated)
      • Multi-part walkthroughs ensure they are truly a warfare specialist!
