Gordillo .He had alot of family in Mexico.
Oh by the way the last name Gordillo I'm

I have been looking for Gordillo's for over twenty five years. We are few and far between. I am fairly tall, white skin, hazel eyes and light brown hair (when I was young) but my great-grandfather was from the Canary Islands (Islenos), migrated to Cuba but left Cuba in 1892 for Key West, Florida and then moved to Tampa. I am curious how the name got to Mexico.

I had a grandfather in Michoacan his name was Jesus Gordillo, has family in the area. Trying to find history I believe his brother was Basilio Gordillo. Please let me know if he is related to your family. He was born in 1905? or so. Died in 1990's.
I would appreciate any information.
thanks

The Gordillos came into Mexico via Chiapas. Chiapas was part of Guatemala until 1828. In Chiapas and Guatemala we are not few and far between. Rather, "somos un chingo" There are many different branches of the Clan, which appears to have originated inSpain. in the late 80's, the National Geographic published a Map of the travels of olumbus and it showed a Francisco Gordillo traveling in the Caribean Sea, way back in the early 1500's. We may actually have 'marrano' (converted jew) lines also...check out the google search engine and you'll see how many of us there are
