The Interconnected World of Tech Companies [INFOGRAPHIC]
The “tech world” is really more of a “tech family.” Between digital giants’ appetites for acquisitions and the tendency of their ex-employees to start new companies, it’s easy to see how nearly every blip in the ecosystem is closely related.
We’ve mapped just a few of these family ties between “Xooglers,” the “PayPal Mafia”, “Softies” and the many other tech connectors who have yet to be nicknamed.
Our guess is that if you gathered a handful of tech veterans in a room, you could keep the tech connection game going forever. So while this graphic is hardly exhaustive, we’ll keep it going in the comments — feel free to add connections to the list!

This is wicked. Kudos to Nick for creating this!
The Twitter bone’s connected to the… Mixer. The Mixer’s connected to the… Google.
This is just too awesome.
Can you add a few more circles and lines…I found that too easy to follow…..

He was being sarcastic…
Absolutely Amazing.
I think that just made my head hurt, need to find a large printer to get this on one sheet of paper.
Trying to follow this gives me a headache
Love this graphic!
I read that EA Sports and Bungie both came because of Apple ‘Computers’. Anyway this graphic pretty much demonstrates how contrary to the cheerleaders of any one thing, in the end it all matters and it doesn’t.
I wonder if this also illustrates the concentration of money for investments in new tech companies.
Hey, @nick_sigler! Awesome job with this. Well done AND following you now. Take care! :)
Where is Yahoo in all of this? Wasn’t it important enough to be included in that list. Not that I have any objections but just wondering.
Ooh, I love this infographic!
WOW! This is an eye opener!
Wow, this is amazing, is there a secret to ranking high buy connecting the right dots of social media participation

Connections btwn the rise and exit of many big names
Wow!
WHY NO YAHOO ?
Wow! Awesome job by Sarah Kessler!
This is a great start – and I don’t know how it’d be possible to fit in more detail with an already crowded chart, but…some quick notes:
If AOL makes the cut, then Yahoo’s gotta be on the infographic too. To start, Yahoo acquired Flickr, Delicious, Upcoming – out of Flickr came Hunch and Glitch. The Youtube guys now own Delicious. Andy Baio was involved with Kickstarter.
Biz Stone was at Google before joining Twitter, Instagram’s Kevin Systrom also had a stint at Twitter. Brizzly’s co-founder Chris Wetherell worked on Twitter too.
Quora was founded by an FB trio, one (at least) who was at Microsoft before FB.
