A suspected member of the Pink Panthers international jewel thief ring has been arrested by police in Montenegro, the international police organization Interpol said Tuesday. Bojan Vuckovic, a 24-year-old Serb, was arrested as he tried to cross the border between Montenegro and Serbia, according to an Interpol statement. Vuckovic is wanted by Austrian police in connection with the robbery of a Vienna jewelry store in 2008. Interpol said the Pink Panthers gang is suspected in the heists of jewelry worth more than 250 million euros ($327 million) in the past 10 years. Authorities hope the arrest of Vuckovic will lead them to other suspected members of the gang, which Interpol has been targeting since it set up Project Pink Panthers in 2007. Others with suspected links to the gang have been arrested in Cyprus, Monaco and France, Interpol said. Displaying 64 Comments | Add comment
