There may be thousands of resume examples and resume formats for you to choose from, but what should your resume look like, for it to get noticed and for it to proceed to the next logical step; i.e. the interview call? Ideally, your resume should be able to stand out not for any outlandish reasons but because of the good solid material that you put into it. Here are some ways to help your resume stand out among the others:

Visual and Tactile Appeal: It should be the contents that matter most, but don't underestimate the importance of first impressions. Good quality note paper or printing paper and other stationery such as envelopes and cover letters, high quality of printing (using a good printer that is) can all make a difference and give you a slight edge, all other things being equal. It can convey to a person that this job is important to you and that you are willing to make the extra effort required for it.

Resume Formats: The look of your resume should be formal and business like, using standard fonts and easy to read font sizes. The layout and structuring of your resume examples should be such that the information contained in them is easily and lucidly yielded even when a person is in a hurry and has the time only to scan rather than actually read a resume. Highlight the important portions so that attention is drawn there at once and use bullet points for a neat look as well as easy readability. Graphics or different fonts and colored paper may well make your resume stand out, but not in a good way here.

Brevity: Your resume should be brief and to the point, containing no irrelevant, extraneous or overly personal details. If you are using longer sentences or irrelevant material as fillers for your resume, that would be a mistake because it would cause a reader to think that you really don't have anything unique to bring to the table.

Highlight your Uniqueness: Any job experiences that are unique, educational qualifications that would make you stand out or other details that could catch the eye should be included. This will help set your resume apart from others like nothing else. Don't waffle, state clearly what you mean to say.

State your Objective Clearly: This can again help set your resume apart from the others, since it indicates immediately to a reader what you are about. Your goals, your professional attributes being stated clearly can convey a positive impression right at the outset.

Contact Information: Make sure all your contact information is clearly stated, current and easily accessible as well as fully accurate. And don't use a cutesy email address; rather create one that is more professional sounding if you have to. State all the information clearly and legibly, so that if a prospective employer is thinking of contacting you, he has no excuse not to do so.

Make your resume as unique as possible, with a clear, concise, to the point and attractive looking resume sample!

The jobs market today is so competitive that the resume has become even more important in helping you to secure a good position within a company. The objective of a resume is not to get you a job, nobody gets employed on the strength of their resume, but to get you an interview, it's at the interview stage where a decision will be made whether you are suitable or not for the position you are applying for.

There are certain ethics required when you're applying for a new job. Truthfulness is undoubtedly the most important, possibly the crux of a good application. Wholesale lies, mistruths and exaggerations are utterly discouraged. It has probably crossed every prospective candidate's mind, at some time, that a little embellishment might help their application shine a little brighter when the recruiter peruses hundreds of CV's for an oversubscribed position.
