... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST Monday...

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST Monday.

* Timing and main impact: snow... heavy at times... will develop
over central Montana late tonight. The snowfall will let up in
intensity a bit on Monday morning... then a second surge of
heavier snowfall and colder temperatures will move through the
region Monday afternoon. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per
hour are possible.

* Snow accumulations: by Monday evening... expect total snow
accumulations to range from 6 to 10 inches at lower
elevations... to 10 to 20 inches in the mountains.

* Winds and visibility
: gusty winds... combined with the falling
snow will create numerous areas of blowing snow which will
reduce visibilities to less than one quarter mile at times.
Whiteout conditions will be possible for a few hours on
Monday.

* Road impacts: significant drifting of the snow is likely on
Monday. Motorists should be prepared for severe winter
driving conditions or some Road closures on Monday.

* Locations affected include: Stanford... Big Sandy... Fort
Benton... Great Falls... Kings Hill Pass.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. If traveling... keep
an extra flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case of
an emergency.
