It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harold Joseph Curlew announce his passing on Friday, October 1st, 2004 at The Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 75 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Bride (Joan). Children: Ross (Joy), Labrador City, Carl (Edna), Corner Brook, Jean (Leslie) Janes, Ft. McMurray, Lloyd, Labrador City and Cyril (Dolores), Deer Lake. 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Brothers: Raymond (Irene), Reidville, Calvin (Dorothy), Douglas (Gladys), Winston (Doreen), Harry (Barbara) all of Deer Lake and Donald, British Columbia. Sisters: Mary Ball, Deer Lake, Sadie (Robert) Shears, Port aux Basques and Renee Dinney, Deer Lake. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents James and Ida, brothers Roy and James, sisters May, Faye, Bertha and Pearl. The family will be receiving friends from Fillatre's Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake today from the hours of 7-9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 4th at 2:00 p.m. from The Salvation Army Citadel, Deer Lake with Captains Terry & Bonnie Hopkins officiating. Interment to follow  at the Salvation Army cemetery, Wight's Road. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation, Long Term Care Unit.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Roderick Flynn announce his peaceful passing at the Health Science Centre, St. John's on Thursday, September 30, 2004 at the age of 77. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Susan; children: Dolores (Georgina), St. John's, Brian (Ada), Dave (Venecia), Steve (Wanda), Damian (Tina), Belinda (Chad), Perry (Cheryl), Amanda (Terry) all of West Bay, Philomena (Jerome), Harbour Maine, Larry (Sandy), Oshawa, ON, Mary (Chuck), Calgary, AB, Robert (Tillie), Ontario; 23 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister Nora Marshman, Georgia, U.S.A.; aunt Tessie Flynn, West Bay; as well a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is predeceased by parents Patrick and Margaret Flynn and by his seven brothers. The family will be receiving friends at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Lourdes on Saturday and Sunday 2-9 p.m. from where the Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, October 4 at 10:00 a.m., Father Ed Terry officiating. Bill and Gen Quigley of Corner Brook are pleased to announce the marriage of their oldest son, Billy, to Donna Marie Holmes, daughter of the late Anne Marie Quinn and stepdaughter of Joe Polito of Pickering, Ontario. The couple was married in a beautiful ceremony at St. Mary's Basilica in Halifax on July 10, with Father John Williams officiating. Matron of Honor was Claire Holmes, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Adele Holmes, sister of the bride, Allison Hawco, sister of the groom, Bethany Ottaway and Katerina Svanda, friends of the bride. Best man was Jason Brockway, cousin of the groom. Groomsmen were Chris Quigley, brother of the groom and Sean Goldsworthy and Charles Canning, friends of the groom. Flower girl was Emma Bowers and Ring Bearer was Calum Lorimer. A reception was held at the Delta Halifax where friends and relatives from Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Scotland helped make this a memorable day. Billy and Donna currently live in Ontario where they're pursuing their careers.

It is with great happiness and pride that Cheryl Coleman and Rodney O'Driscoll of Torbay, announce the birth of their little miracle Matthew Frederick. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Conran announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook on Saturday, October 2, 2004 at the age of 61 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her devoted husband James of 44 years, sons, Christopher, James Jr., and daughter Karen, grandchildren, Donovan, Thomas, Emily, Jessica and James and special grandson, Craig. Also her mother, Margaret Felix, sisters, Annie (Howard) Young, Hilda (Reginald) Brake, Verna (Ambrose) Doucette and Patsy Deloder and a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation took place on Saturday evening and Sunday at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port au Port West. Funeral Service took place on Monday, October 4th at 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Mercy Church, Port au Port West with interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Port au Port East. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Emma Jane Crocker announce her passing on Friday, October 1, 2004 at The Bonne Bay Health Centre in Norris Point at the age of 102 years, 2 days short of her 103 birthday. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Maxine (Clarence) Barnes, Myra (Gilbert) Crocker, Ronald (Minnie), Elva (Fred) Romain, Winston (Deloris), Wilfred (Pricsilla) and Ernie, 42 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren and 34 great great grandchildren, niece Deliah Duval and brother-in-law Issac Crocker. As well as many other relatives, friends and staff at The Bonne Bay Health Centre. She was predeceased by her husband Grant, children Gwendline and baby, Victor and Roy, daughters-in-law Elizabeth and Gerldine. Visitation was held at the United Church in Trout River on Saturday and Sunday from where funeral services will take place today, Monday, October 4 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Tony Newell officiating. Interment to follow at the United Church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to The United Church Memorial Fund. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary and son, Clifford. She was predeceased by husband James Pollis, sister Kathleen Lidstone and parents Warren and Elsie Nichols. Congratulations to Janice, daughter of Loyola & Ruth Galliott and Gordon, son of Judy & Gordon Andrews on their wedding which took place at Sacred Heart Church in Curling, October 9, 2004. Ceremony performed by Father Jim Robertson, uncle of the bride. Maid of honour was  Sherry Ledrew and best man was Peter Ollerhead, friends of the bride and groom. Reception was held at Marble Mountain amidst the beautiful Autumn scenery. The bride, groom and friends bicycled from their home in Curling to the reception. Congratulations & best wishes from all their family and friends.
