We are looking for a web designer-architect to provide consulting help in the areas of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) for our consumer-social web app.
We have a detailed functional spec that goes far beyond a first release, so the goal is to help us make the proper trade-offs for our initial release. Our main desire is to get help designing a web app interface that will be used by many different types of individuals and groups, some that will not have strong computer skills.
We need a strong leader-coach type of person to guide us through the process of refining our site map and wireframes and to hone the design, making the right trade offs to meet the needs of our first targeted users. We have been following the Web Style Guide (3rd edition), by Lynch and Horton for web-apps, but need a very experienced person that has "been there, done that" to settle many of the interface details that will make this an exceptional, stand out web application.
We are looking for someone to lead the consulting sessions at our our San Carlos office (right off 101 and Holly). Our working hours are very flexible since we are a start up, and can meet around normal work hours if you have a regular day job.
If the thought of helping to create a web app that you, your friends, your family - mom, dad, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, and grandparents - will use sounds interesting, then we should talk.
We prefer someone that comes from the technical side so that they will know how to make design tradeoffs regarding the use of the following technologies: JavaScript, XHMTL, (JQuery), XML, CSS, PHP, PERL, using AJAX methods for creating a highly interactive web app. The technical team is developing using LAMP, MAMP and Dreamweaver CS4. But in reality, we realize that any accomplished web designer will have these skills.
