IRCTC Transaction Data: 29 % Failure in Net Banking/Debit Card Transactions [July 2012]

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), reports 17.22 million attempted transactions via credit and debit card for the month of July. Out of which 12.91 million (75 %) transactions were successfully processed. Importantly, this time IRCTC has not included Redeem PG in overall RDS payment system (or it might be a calculation mistake) as in earlier released data [June] it has counted Redeem PG in overall RDS payment system. Below is the snapshot from IRCTC Payment Gateway performance data for July 2012.

-74 percent success rate in Debit/Credit card transaction, led by Amex Payment Gateway (79.53 %) closely followed by HDFC (79.08%), ICICI and Axis.
-Like June, July also witnessed exactly 29 % failure in net banking/debit card  transactions. However, this time Indus Ind left SBI behind by clocking 78.71 % success rate followed by SBI Associate (75.32%), Bank of India (67.51%), Andhara Bank, India Bank and so on.
-Importantly, recent integration of IMPS by IRCTC was the overall worst performer with only 2.50 % success rate
-On Cash card front, the overall success rate was 88 % (decline of 1 % with respect to June data). As usual, ITZ Cash card rule the chart of Cash Card with 89.05 % success rate closely followed by I Cash Card (89.02%), Done Card, Oxi Card and Beam
-As far as RDS is concerned, the overall success rate was 95.38 %irctc_july_2012

Meanwhile, the Government of India is putting up efforts to streamline tatkal ticket bookings such as regular monitoring of complete system,  installation of high capacity database servers, extension of Internet bandwidth from 344 Mbps to 450 Mbps including policy that allows agents to book only one tatkal ticket everyday per train on the website after 12 PM.
