Rangers Win Another 2

Friday evening was the first of 2 games played by the Rangers this past week as they hosted the St. Paul Canadians. From the drop of the puck it was clear that Vegreville had their foot on the gas and they were not going to let up.

Vortex Wrap up Tough Year

Things not going well for Vortex

While the mathematics of 52-0 are what stand out to the casual observer, the number 19 is the most important numerical value to take from the Vortex loss to Wainwright.

Rangers split home and home with Vermilion

The Vegreville Kinsmen Rangers split a home and home series with the Vermilion Tigers to start the 2010-2011 season.

Back to their winning ways for one game at least, the Vegreville Kinsmen Jr. B Rangers have started their 2010 season with a split home and home series with the Vermilion Tigers.

Take That!

The Vegreville Vortex hosted Lloydminster Composite for their home opener on Friday.  The day was complete with a tailgate party hosted by Blue Sky’s before the game, live entertainment, mascot races at halftime and a giveaway of a signed Edmonton Eskimos football and a 55” flat screen TV from the Brick.  Unfortunately, things didn’t go quite so on the field as Lloyd Comp hung 42 on the Vortex for a final score of 42-0.

Friday marked the home opener of the Vegreville Vortex Football Club. With nearly 200 people on the sideline watching, a tailgate party, live entertainment, mascot races and more happening before, during and after the game, the Vortex hoped to put on a good show for their new fans. Lloydminster Composite was happy to play spoiler.

Potential Rangers Hit Ice for Try Outs

The Vegreville Jr. B Rangers hosted try outs on Friday and Saturday.  The try outs attracted 32 players looking to score a roster spot on a team coming off back-to-back Finals appearances.

Coming off back-to-back Finals appearances, though no championship wins, the Vegreville Jr. B Rangers were back on the ice over the weekend, looking to pick next year’s championship crop of players.

Kevin Prendergast Hired As Head Scout

Hockey Canada announced Monday that Kevin Prendergast of Verdun, Quebec has been hired as head scout of its men’s Program of Excellence, which includes Canada’s National Junior, Under-18 and Under-17 programs.
