The category has two subjects related: qigong and martial arts. Qigong (literally 'breath exercise', known as chi kung, chi gung) is the art of developing vital energy particularly for health, vitality, mind expansion and spiritual cultivation. Chinese martial arts (known as kung fu) are generally various physical exercises or sports like. Chinese kung fu has a unique combination of healthy push, practical self-defense, self-discipline and art. Chi kung may or may not be used for martial art purposes. But for Chinese kungfu, the internal training, that is, practicing qigong, is essential. All great kungfu makes use of energy training (which is chi kung) to develop internal force. Without the internal force kungfu exercise remains at its external, mechanical level, that is considered by Chinese martial artists as low class. | |
