California girl records two aces in a single round!

Naomi Lee at the site of her triumph.Fair warning: This story will make you feel both old AND untalented.

Meet Naomi Lee, a 12-year-old seventh-grader in Menlo Park, Calif. She's a fairly decent young golfer, and she proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt earlier this month when she recorded two aces in the same round on Pebble Beach's nine-hole course.

Golf Digest has tracked the number of two-ace rounds, and the total for all time? One hundred fifty. Lee, obviously, is the youngest female to close the deal. And the odds of such a feat are 67,000,000-to-1, according to GD's research.

Now, haters gonna hate, and here's your material: This is an executive (i.e., shorter) par-3 course, and the holes she aced were 82 and 64 yards. Plus, she had nine shots at par-3s, rather than the usual four on a standard course. So, yeah, we're not exactly talking pro-length holes here. Still, an ace is an ace, right?

Lee isn't a Janie-come-lately to the game; she recently won the designation of "Bay Area Player of the Year" from U.S. Golf Kids. She'll play in the Teen World Championships in Pinehurst, N.C., in late July.

"I'm trying to be good at golf, and this helps a lot, because I know if I put my mind to it, I can make awesome shots," Lee told Golf Digest. "From this, I kind of have new confidence. And people say that great shots happen because of confidence ...  I'm probably going to remind myself every time I stand over a golf ball that guess what, 'I got two holes-in-one, and that's like, amazing.'"

Oh, and she has another ace, recorded more than two years ago at the same course. How's your game coming along, by the way?

A hole in one is a hole in one. I'm sure that if we had a roomfull of golfers and asked him how many did it once... very few.

Why, Mr. Busbee, would you provide material for haters? A 12 year old hitting two aces in a single round, regardless of distance, is impressive. Have you made two shots in a single round from those distances? I think it's even rare for the PGA Tour guys to hit from those distances and make it into the hole. I hope her parents don't push her too hard and that she continues to enjoy playing.

Thanks Yahoo . . . I was just hoping that I'd come here and find yet another article that made me feel bad about my sucky life.

OK, so it would seem her feat would be more akin to getting two EAGLES in the same round on a full sized course. And the last time you, your friends, or any pro you can remember, pulled THAT off? For 99.999%, the answer is NEVER! Great accomplishment Miss Lee, and let notice be served to those playing on the LPGA Tour.
