Kangaroos Don’t Get Diabetes

I apologize for the reference to kangaroos. I’m an Australian, so I could not ignore the idea. But I did want to give you a little more information on diabetes, so I hope the headline got your attention.

Now I use that heading for a very good reason. Domestic pets such as dogs and cats are now getting diabetes. The causes are debated. But it would be a fascinating study to put the pets and their owners in the same room and see if there are some similarities.

More on that later. But consider this concerning diabetes in humans.

About 95% of diabetics have type 2 diabetes. And they don’t need to have it.

By the time it has become evident, however, diabetes could have been in existence in a person for 10 years or more. And by then it could have a pretty serious hold. A hold, however, that can be reversed almost immediately.

Now before you throw that statement into the trash can, consider this: there is a substantial difference between diabetes and the results of diabetes. So when I say diabetes can be reversed almost immediately, this does not mean that the results of years of diabetes in a body can be reversed immediately. That’s another issue

Some months ago I heard an M.D. speak on alternative medical treatments. What he said made sense. There are alternatives that can successfully reverse illness. But, it could well reach a stage where the alternatives are no longer effective and you need the best that modern medicine offers to get you through. Blindness from diabetes is one situation where eventual surgery might be the only option to repair the eyes. Gangrene from diabetic neuropathy is another one that would require surgery.

Complementary and alternative health care, however, have the power to fix a lot issues — even serious ones — before you need the surgeon’s knife. Life is full of wonderful stories of people who have been given a death-sentence by their doctor, but 20 years later they’re still alive, laughing and enjoying life.

And just maybe, that laughter has something to contribute to their wellness.

Have you been laughing a lot lately?
