another name for weeds is “wild flowers”… And God doesn’t plant in rows… and yes, Momma likes yellow flowers too… There are deep purple violets, light purple violets and white ones with purple veins – and I picked you some of each. The first handful Alex shredded outside, but I thought the second handful might actually make it to YOU, not just inside the house…. oh well… I, too, loved all the “flowers” Stephanie and Patrick brought to me as children–and adults

That’s unfortunate. I try not to be much concerned about the gift itself, but the intent of the giver–especially with children. To put it another way: the giving is what matters, not the gift.

I remember once when I was 5 or 6, I picked some dandelions and blue weed flowers and presented them to my mother. She said, “Those are just weeds!“,and threw them directly into the trash.

I never once bought her any flowers, or celebrated Mother’s Day with her, not even a card.
