Say NO to Plastic Bags Day – June 5th 2010
World Environment Day is a very special day that brings us all together for one purpose. To think of how we impact on our environment and to talk about ways we can mitigate that impact.
Every day the world consumes an estimated 1,440 million (1 million per minute) with an estimate of over 500 billion bags consumed every year. Less that 2% of these are recycled ending up in landfill, as windblown litter, or invading the rivers and oceans of the world. You can see the other devastating facts on the STOPlastic Bags Petition page. If you haven’t joined us in signing the petition please do. Sign HERE.
We also ask for your help to lobby your local elected officials and you can go here and copy the email to send to them. Not only is it good policy to ban plastic bags it is also GOOD POLITICS – Tell them so!
So on World Environment Day June 5th join with us for the day when we all say in a loud voice ……….NO to Plastic Bags.
Grab yourself one of these Hand in Hand for Earth Bags to use on the day!

I would like to express the gratitude of the Foundation for the enthusiastic support provided for this campaign by the dedicated team of the United Nations Environment Program. Thank you everyone!
Give a dollar of two to the FIGHTING FUND to BAN THE BAG. Let’s do it NOW!
