New to Twitter? What’s It All About? Watch this video…

Watch this video “Twitter- In Plain English” for a basic view of what Twitter actually is and how it works.

Some Twitter “Tips” To Better Twittering:

When you start following a few people, pay attention to who they are talking to. Click to see their profiles and start following them, it’s a great way to find new business contacts, friends and followers.

But first and foremost… be interesting and engaging! Twitter is not just place to spam your links, if you treat it that way you won’t get any results. Reply to people, start conversations… Let your followers get a chance to see the real you. If you have some good tips and suggestions tweet them. Find a funny video, a great article, good blog post etc. let your followers know.

In my opinion the real power of Twitter is to use it to find new contacts, partners, friends etc. And to let your members and subscribers see the “real you” – building that all important relationship with your readers, and yes ultimately that will help your business.

Now, as a marketer, once in a while you can tweet a link to your new blog post, recommend your new product or service or even promote a product you are an affiliate for. If you are interesting enough that people want to follow you (and that’s really not hard at all), they won’t mind the occasional promotion – in fact they are likely to be interested enough to click and see what you are talking about. I would say that a golden rule would be at least 80% content and conversion and max 20% promotion on Twitter.

Here are a few cool tools that will help you get the most out of Twitter, make it less confusing and automate some of the tasks.

1. TweetDeck: is a very cool Adobe Air desktop application that makes Twitter a lot easier to use. For me the main benefit is that you can group the people you are following and have them in different streams. So you can have your friends, family, business, partners etc. streams – makes following and replying to relevant people a lot easier.

2. TweetLater:  is another awesome tool. It’s what I use to automatically follow back people who follow me. And to automatically send new followers a welcome message. As the name implies TweetLater also works kinda like an auto responder for Twitter. You can add tweets to go out at a specific time. I don’t recommend using that all the time, but it’s very handy if you need to get a tweet out at a specific time and you are not around to do it.

3. TweetMyBlog:  FREE To Join.  It’s a WordPress plugin that will automatically send out a tweet with a link back to your blog, when you make a new post. You can also use it to integrate your own Twitter feed into your blog’s sidebar.

4. AWeber:  my email autoresponder of choice now integrates with Twitter. Simply check the Syndicate box and enter your Twitter details when you send out an AWeber broadcast, and they will automatically post a tweet with a link to your email.

5. Mr.Tweet: I just dicovered this last week and it’s very powerful. All you have to do is follow @MrTweet and they will automatically send you a DM, with a report on your Twitter account (every 2 weeks). This report will recommend people to follow based on who you are already following. And you will be added to that network too, so other people will get recommendations to follow you. You can also also use it to send out recommendations like this, ask other people to recommend you… and a lot of other neat stuff.

This blog is basically an “All Thingz Related To Twitter” center.  I’ll try to post relevant information related to Twitter, Social Networking and Web 2.0, as well as products & services that may be useful to your online marketing campaigns and such.
