On the contrary, people in those countries such as Colombia, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Haiti, Hungary, Mexico, Norway, Peru, Poland, Russia, Spain (except in Catalonia), Macedonia, Ukraine, Venezuela and Serbia wear rings on their right hands. Orthodox Christians and Eastern Europeans (except for the Romanians) also traditionally wear the wedding band on the right hand and in Austria; Catholics wear it on the right.
Greek people, many being Orthodox Christians, wear the wedding rings on the right hand in keeping with Greek tradition. It is believed that the tradition of people wear the wedding ring on the right hand stems from Roman custom and biblical references. Because Latin word for left is “sinister”, meaning unlucky while the word for right is “dexterity” meaning lucky.
In the United States nowadays, people sometimes remove their wedding rings for comfort or safety, just as they declared “we wear rings around our hearts not around our fingers. Well, I just wonder if they put away their tiffany aside. Have a look at your rings; see if they are worn on the right hand.
