United Nations has proclaimed an ‘International Year of Youth’ in 2010, to harness the energy, imagination and initiative of the world’s youth in overcoming the challenges facing humankind from enhancing peace to boosting economic development.
To celebrate the occasion, Rotary Club of Islamabad Metropolitan at its 2002nd Meeting since its founding in 1984 invited famous pop-singer and philanthropist Abrar-ul-Haq as Chairman of the Youth Parliament of Pakistan (YPP), to give a talk on the role of the YPP to its Members and friends. Rotary District Governor for 2009-10 Usman Masud, Chief Guest at his official visit to the Club made Abrar an Honorary Rotarian and invited the YPP to hold their first convention in Karachi for which he promised his support. Besides an inspiring speech Abrar-ul-Haq enthralled the audience with some of his songs.
