Friday September 4 saw the first Stag of the fall season. The attendance was a bit light, but the steaks supplied by Noble Marty Cleveland’s SHERIDAN MEATS, were absolutely delightful. About fifty five nobles and guests enjoyed the sizzling steaks and beauteous baked potatoes prepared by the Kourageous Kan-A-Bulls under the direction of Noble Freddie Case, King Kan-A-Bull. Please contact me or Noble Fred if you have ideas to “brighten” up the stag and help increase attendance. The food is fabulous, so let’s come and support our Temple and have some fun. The first stag of the fall was bitter sweet event as Noble Norm (Stub) Spangler announced his retirement from the Stag Committee after serving over a quarter of a century. Noble Norm is a fixture at the Shrine having served on the House Committee, Stag Committee, Kan-A-Bulls, Oriental Band, plumbing installer and overall Shrine adviser, organizer and main promoter of the St. Patrick’s Day Party. I know I missed some of Noble Norm’s activities, like being the recipient of the Paul Newman lookalike contest, but hopefully we will be able to fill you in on more of his accomplishments at a later date.

Saturday September 5, saw many Nobles and Master Masons in the Big Horn mountains participating in the third degree of Masonry demonstrated by Sheridan Lodge #8 under the leadership of soon to be Noble, Ken Thorpe. Two Master Masons were raised, so we hope to see Brothers Alex Lee, Bruce Nolting and Master Ken Thorpe at our Fall Ceremonial traversing the hot sands. Many Nobles were present at this lodge meeting including a newly created Kalif Noble and present Master of Big Horn Lodge #43, Noble Dean Ellingson. Past Masters from Sheridan Lodge #8 were Nobles Rick Stephens, Bill (King) Campbell, Ken Humphrey, Norman (Chip) King, Jr., Past Grand Master JJ Dunlap (Sec/Recorder), Joe Campbell (High Priest and Prophet) and I. Thanks to the Schwartz’s brothers for the use of their cabin, special out building and the low dell.

On Sunday September 6, your Potentate drove to Salt Lake City to participate in Divan Days at the Shriners Hospital at Salt Lake City, UT. On Monday September 7, your Potentate along with Illustrious Sir Craig Warner, Potentate of Korein Shriners was able to present a check for $30,000.00 to the Shrine Hospital Board. This was the net proceeds from the Wyoming North-South Shrine football game held in Casper last summer. Nobles and Ladies, thank you for your hard work, support and dedication making this the largest single Shrine Bowl donation to the Shrine Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Nobles, please support your Temple by attending events whenever possible. These upcoming events at the Shrine auditorium are listed within the Kall, so mark them on your calendar. Remember the Stag on October 2, the 2nd annual Oktoberfest on October 3, and the Kalif Horse Patrol Chicken Fried Steak Dinner on October 10, the Shrine Ladies Bazaar headed by Lady Heidi Wood (Kelly’s better half) on October 24, 2009. I am asking that all Parade Units, Shrine Clubs, Nobles and their Ladies support our Ceremonial slated for Friday November 20 with a free dance and mixer 08:30 PM and the Kalif Fall Ceremonial and Hawaiian Luau / Dance on November 21, 2009 at the Shrine auditorium. This is an all day affair Nobles, so come and enjoy.

As always, it has been my pleasure and honor to serve as your Potentate this year. Please remember our honorary Potentate Jerry Voorhees who continues to maintain a presence in our hearts.
