As a child, one of the festive occasion I always looked forward is the Chinese Lunar New Year. Come midnight on the 3rd of February 2011, the Lunar Year of the Rabbit kicks in -according to the Chinese zodiac; those born in the year of a rabbit is said to be creative, sensitive, compassionate, good with communication and articulates well.

Here at this part of the globe, the recent wet spell have not dampen the festive spirit of those celebrating the occasion at all. Today, I see lots of people either busy doing their last minute shopping or rushing all over to complete their preparations to usher in the New Year.

The Lunar New Year celebrations will also mean sleepless nights, especially with the non-stop blasting of firecrackers around them.

This year is a very special year for yours truly. I am very excited and is looking forward to a great year. The color red is very prominent during the Chinese New Year – it only reflects happiness and has nothing to do with religion or race. Mandarin oranges are also popular during the occasion – they are a symbol of sweetness. Lastly, to those celebrating this occasion, “Gong Xi Fa Cai.” and have a great time. !!!
