A medium sized transportation planning firm with offices in San Francisco, Boston, Portland, New York and Seattle. We specialize in developing unique solutions for alternative transportation systems ranging from fixed-route and paratransit services to ridesharing and bicycles. The firm has a long track record of developing innovative plans that are grounded in reality. We are looking for a qualified candidate that can provide outstanding network and desktop support. The firm provides Medical, Dental, 401K and PTO to all employees.

The Position:
IT Support Technician
The candidate will provide support to employees across all our offices. The IT Support technician will not only provide helpdesk, desktop support but will also maintain the network components within the Corporate LAN/WAN Network Systems This candidate will also act as the primary IT support representative. The candidate must be able to begin work at 6AM and end the day at 2PM (Somewhat flexible)

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• At least 2 years systems support experience in an IT environment
• Experience in a Windows server, Windows desktop required
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP network, hubs, and switches experience required
• Experience with the LAN/WAN environment
• Experience in installing and maintaining hardware
• Proficient in business software, including MS Outlook, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Software
• Experience with Exchange Servers and some SQL Server is required
• Strong understanding of backup and restoration procedures
• Experience in troubleshooting network (LAN) hardware and software issues
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must demonstrate excellent customer services skills and the ability to communicate with individuals of all levels internal to the organization
• Able to lift equipment up to 50 pounds

Desktop support
Install, update, support and troubleshoot:
Windows XP, Office 2007, ArcView GIS, Adobe CS4, MAS200 Accounting software
Update drivers, update printers
Clean, tune, and optimize computer performance
Recognize and remove virus, worms and Malware
Recommend hardware and software
Install memory, hard disks and cards into laptops, desktops and servers.
Blackberry and smart phone
Provisioning
Troubleshooting
Document and regularly update protocols / checklists / processes for tasks

Helpdesk support
Track, follow-up, and manage support requests
Communicate with remote offices regularly, problem solving and configuring over the phone, via remote desktop and by using desktop sharing third party software
Travel to remote offices
Develop a good working relationship with contractors and employees
Communicate with the entire company on a regular basis

Networking and system administration
Create back up strategies and restore files with Symantec VERITAS.
Move large amounts of files / data with HAS
Set up and configure Wireless routers over the phone
Set up and troubleshoot with engineers IP phone systems and switches, firewalls, WAN optimization appliances and software, Servers, SAN's, NAS's, APC UPS's, Data backups and Server OS imaging
Monitor the health of systems, resources, services running on various machines.

Office equipment
Light maintenance, configuration and management of locally attached and networked office equipment (printers, scanners, telecoms, fax machines
Setting up of projectors and teleconferences to facilitate office meetings
Install keyboard trays and move equipment

Salary:
Commensurate with experience
