Position: Chief Architect

Full-time, San Francisco, California

Description:
The Chief Architect is a leadership role that will be accountable for architecting and designing comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements for a stealth social media launch in the travel space. He/she will be a strategic launch team member and partner with other key launch team individuals to create well-defined solutions that are aligned to company’s launch strategy and leverage solutions and services expertise to meet key project goals.

Within the solution development lifecycle, this role will be responsible for solution evaluation and selection, buy vs. build vs. open source decisions, early-phase project estimates which contribute to the business case, and high level design. This role will provide guidance and architectural oversight during the detailed design, build, test and deploy phases.

The successful candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of object oriented analysis and design with demonstrated knowledge of and experience with systems integration methods and technologies. Demonstrated experience in performing complex analysis, consulting and providing recommendations to internal clients.

The Chief Architect must have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare specifications and reports, deliver oral presentations, and explain complex technical concepts in simple terms. He/She must possess strong leadership skills and the ability to providing direction to cross-functional team members responsible for resolution of complex technical challenges. Qualified candidates must be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to customers' business needs and possess the ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, and management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy- in. Accurately analyze information and make sound decisions and the ability to take initiative and accountability for achieving results are essential to the position. The position will report to the Managing Director of the launch team.

Key Responsibilities
•Define technical infrastructure for product
•Translate business requirements and product vision into product architecture
•Compare, contrast, and prioritize among alternative approaches to meet those objectives while assessing risk both quantitatively and qualitatively
•Demonstrate seasoned judgment to suggest approaches that optimize among customer needs, business constraints, and technological realities
•Influence and communicate effectively with non-technical audiences including senior product and business management
•Comfortably move between highly varying levels of abstraction within business and product strategy, technical design (micro/macro), and implementation
•Provide clear documentation and communication of objectives, requirements, and designs to both technical and non-technical audiences
•Responsible and accountable for key technical development deliverables
•Oversee hiring and managing engineering resources
•Contribute as a hands-on developer
•Experience estimating capital, schedule, and human resource costs of proposed objectives
•Additional tasks may be assigned by the supervisor as appropriate.

Experience:
•Degree in Computer Science or related degree or equivalent related experience
•Three years or more of specialized business, technical, data and application architect experience with demonstrated accomplishment of assignments that required wide range knowledge of requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled.
•5 plus years of experience in IT solution delivery, preferably playing a diverse set of roles such as programmer, architect, project manager, integration design, or systems engineering
