How can we help you?

How do I offer buyers the option to pay by credit card or Etsy Gift Card? What is Direct Checkout?

Direct Checkout is a payment method that offers buyers the option to pay by credit card, debit card, or Etsy Gift Card.

Sellers who offer this payment method will receive funds from these sales directly to their bank accounts in their own native currencies.

Direct Checkout is currently available for shops in 16 countries, and we hope to expand even further in the future.

It’s quick and easy to sign up. You’ll need a valid credit card and a bank account in one of the 16 eligible countries for receiving deposits. You will also be required to verify your personal identity.

Sellers can keep track of their Direct Checkout orders and deposits in their Shop Payment Accounts, accessed by clicking Your ShopShop Payment Account. See this video for more information.

For sellers in the United States, available funds are disbursed every Monday. They may also be disbursed Tuesday-Friday using the Schedule Earlier Deposit button. Funds generally take 3-5 business days to appear in your bank account, depending on your bank. If a disbursement day happens to fall on a holiday, available funds will be sent on the next business day.

For sellers outside of the United States, available funds are disbursed every other Monday. They may also be disbursed Tuesday-Friday using the Schedule Earlier Deposit button. Funds generally take 3-5 business days to appear in your bank account, depending on your bank. If a disbursement day happens to fall on a holiday, your funds may be delayed by a day.

Orders placed through Direct Checkout are subject to a payment processing fee. This amount is applied to the total sale price, including shipping and sales tax. This fee is in addition to Etsy's transaction fee.

Direct Checkout fees vary by location. Read about the fees for your country here.

After signing up and adding your bank information, there is a 5-day hold on the funds in your Shop Payment Account. This hold only occurs when bank information is added or changed.

Once the 5-day hold has lifted, your deposits will fall into a schedule based on your sales history, as described below:

  • If fewer than 90 days have passed since your first sale, regardless of payment method, the money from Direct Checkout orders will become available for deposit after the order has been marked as shipped and 3 days have passed from the sale.
  • If 90 or more days have passed since your first sale, the money from Direct Checkout orders will become available for deposit the next business day, regardless of the shipping status.
