Sr. Director of Engineering -- San Francisco (Bay Area) CA

Role:
Sr. Director of Engineering with responsibility for:
• Inspiring and providing the vision and leadership to the engineering team
• Designing and developing the architecture to deliver highly scalable web application
• Using Agile process, conduct SCRUM and technical reviews to ensure high quality standards in robustness, scalability, functionality, and performance
• Ensuring proper technical design, documentation, and review
• Ensuring adherence to engineering processes such as code reviews, source control, unit testing, use case analysis, and defect management
• Interacting with senior management on technical issues and their impact to the business
• Capacity resource planning and project planning
• Hands-on coding
Qualifications:
• 8+ years of experience with increasingly-broader hands-on technical leadership roles in the architecture and design of serious business applications
• Knowledge of Java, and experience with JBoss Seam or other web framework(s) (e.g. Tapestry, Velocity, JSF, WebWork? , or others)
• Technologies: REST/JSON/YAML/SOAP, Hibernate, RDBMS (MySQL, Oracle), open source technologies such as Spring, Maven; Pluses: LAMP technologies and frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Python/Django, and/or Grails/Groovy
• Proven record of excellent people and project management
• Agile/Scrum, continuous integration experience a plus
• Experience with client-side technologies (HTML, CSS, Javascript, Ajax, Flash/Flex).
• Smart with a passion for coding innovative solutions
• Easy to get along with, ethical, and a self-starter
• Quick learner of new technologies
• A desire to help others and be a real owner in company’s future
Compensation
This is a "ground floor" level position and will have a large equity component. Cash compensation will grow over time.
