The number of websites pertaining to genealogy is huge. I did a quick search on Google and found almost 50 million sites. The following links are some that I think will be very useful for the FHC staff.

Family Search

  • FamilySearch.org - This is the old FamilySearch website. It is useful for searching several databases managed by the Church, such as IGI, AF and PRF, as well as the 1880 US census and Social Security Death Index. You can also search the Family History Library's card catalog.
  • New FamilySearch - This is the new FamilySearch (nFS) website for doing Temple Ready. It is being released gradually over a period of about 18 months. Your temple district will be notified approximately 90 days before it is released in your area. For a map of temple districts being rolled out click here.
  • FamilySearch Indexing - The Church plans to place all of the records from Granite Mountain on the web in a searchable database. You can volunteer on this site to do indexing work. They are currently looking for Spanish speaking volunteers to work on the Mexican census records.
  • FamilySearch Consultants Training - This is the Family History Consultant Training registration website. All Family History Consultants and Priesthood Leaders should register here to access the most recent training programs.
  • Family History Center Services - This website is the home to links to Family History Center subscription services. You can load the various FHC subscription services such as Footnote, WorldVitalRecords, HeritageQuest, FamilyLink, and Godfrey Memorial Library from this site. In the future Genline and KindredKonnections will have links here. These links are only accessible from registered FHC computers.
  • FamilySearch Labs - If you want to see what is coming up in the world of Family History check out this link. FamilySearch Labs are testing a variety of products. One of the great new products is the Records Search. As records are indexed by FamilySearch Indexing volunteers those records are released here for our use. You have to register as a beta tester to get access.
  • FamilySearch Wiki - The FamilySearch Wiki is a tool people can use to learn how to find their ancestors. It offers information on how to find, use, and analyze records of genealogical value. The site’s content is variously targeted to beginners, intermediate researchers, and experts.
