Marc Jacobs to go plus-size

Marc Jacobs CEO, Robert Duffy, has suggested via Twitter that the label is considering developing a plus-size line. Duffy, a.k.a. MarcJacobsInt, has a fondness for venting both personal matters and Marc Jacobs label information on his beloved Twitter account. Last week, Jacobs’s business partner of 26 years started the plus-size discussion, tweeting, “I don’t like the phrase ‘plus-sizes’. Any suggestions?”

The question proved a hot topic to say the least, and after many replies Duffy said, “You’re right. We gotta do larger sizes. I’m with you. As soon as I get back to NY, I’m on it! It will take me about a year. But stay with us.”

Marc Jacobs currently stocks up to a size 16, however according to New York magazine, the proposed plus-size collection could cater for women up to size 18 and over. Duffy has also started a new phenomenon of Twitter contests, giving away the label’s coveted leather bags and promising an opportunity to win tickets to the collection show. Gifts, gossip and the latest Marc Jacobs news in 140 characters or less? Duffy may be our new favourite twitterer.
