One-on-one home/school LVN (san jose west)

Looking for an energetic, outgoing, and responsible licensed vocational nurse (LVN) to assist a young, college girl who have cerebral palsy with her daily activities at her house, her college classes, and in the community. This young lady, who uses a manual wheelchair and speech device, is like everyone else mentally, socially, and emotionally.


Nursing Responsibilities:

* Transfer to toilet 2-4 times daily

* Assist with oral feedings

* Give drinks often

* Administer medication

* Personal hygiene: fix hair, clean face and hands, cleaning bodily fluids (drool, vomit, sneezes). .

* Monitor blood pressure and lung congestion

Academic Support Responsibilities:

* Accompany her on Outreach (transportation for people with disabilities)

* Accompany her on any other form of public transportation

* Push wheelchair from class to class and assist student in classes

* Take well-quality class notes

* Assist her with classwork and homework

* Read required texts to student and scribe her answers on the exams/class responses

LVN Qualifications:

* Current, active LVN license

* Must be attentive

* Can and willing to push the wheelchair around

*Be willing to go out to community with her

* Have good interpersonal communication skills

* Have great time management skills

* Positive attitude and energy

* Follow directions and protocols

* Punctual and dependable

* Have English fluency

* Nice, friendly, and happy :)

* Good work ethics and can take initiative

*** Must have a current LVN license, but no experiences necessary. Training will be provided. Family employed, but State funded ***

Hours: 7:15-3:15, Mondays and Thursdays only, from January 13, 2014 through Mid-June.
